Frank Horvat was born in 1928 in Abbazia, then Italy (now Croatia). Horvat studied drawing at the Breer Academy in Milan. At the age of fifteen he swapped a stamp collection for a 35mm camera and started his career as a journalist. His first photo essay was published in 1951 in the Italian magazine Epoca. In 1955 Frank Horvat settled in Paris, where he has lived and worked up to nowadays. Since that time he has held numerous solo exhibitions, the first one – ARBRES – was at Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Nantes, France in 1977. During his career Horvat has participated in more than 120 group and personal exhibitions around the world.
