Michel Comte was born in Switzerland in 1954 and lives between Zurich, Paris, New York and Los Angeles. Educated as an art-restorer, he studied photography on his own. Comte's professional career started with the campaigns for Ungaro and Chloé. In 1981 Michel started to work for American Vogue and Vanity Fair, very soon becoming one of the most wanted photographers. Among his projects, there is a film about the atrocities of Red khmers in Cambodia. Lots of celebrities have posed for Michel: Carla Bruni, Catherine Deneuve, Letitia Casta, Gary Oldman, Sharon Stone, Miles Davis, Iggy Pop, Sophia Coppola. He has been shooting supermodels, among which are Naomi Campbell, Veruschka, Gisele Bundchen, Karen Elson, and creating portraits of great designers, famous athletes and contemporary art stars. Comte's exhibitions have taken place in world-known galleries – such as Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice and Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, as well as in numerous private galleries.
