Born in Tucson, Arizona, 1967, Langer grew up in Los Angeles, Kibbutz Mishmar HaEmek, Izrael and then Ashland, Oregon. It’s while studying at the University of Oregon that Jason decided to pursue photography as a career, inspired by the beautiful black-and-white images of Michael Kenna, whom he had a chance to contact. After graduating from the university Jason worked with Kenna as an apprentice for five years, learning from one of the most popular and prolific photographers in the world.
Langer gained his mastership working as a private printer and photo-retoucher to Michael Kenna, Ruth Bernhard, Arthur Tress, James Fee, Hansel Meith, among others.
A professional photographer since early 90’s, he also worked as photo-educator and author for Academy of Art University, 1998 –2010.
